North Shore Photographic Challenge 2022

The North Shore Challenge is a long running annual CAPA (Canadian Association for Photographic Art) Pacific Zone competition, hosted by the North Shore Photographic Society. The Whitehorse Photography Club has participated in the Challenge almost every year since sometime in the 1980’s, back when we had to mail in members’ precious original slides for judging. Of course it is all digital now, and it has been opened up to individual photographers as well as clubs. Subject matter is completely open and image editing is unrestricted, so artists can let their imaginations run wild.

Three judges score each image up to a maximum of 10 points and those numbers are added together, so the individual scores shown in the gallery are out of 30. Club entries are comprised of 6 member images. Our club scored a total of 144.5 points, placing us in a tie for 12th place out of 29 clubs that participated.

Celebration of Nature 2021

The Whitehorse Photography Club participated again in the latest Celebration of Nature competition held late in 2021. This competition for photography clubs in British Columbia and Yukon that are members of CAPA is hosted by the Lions Gate Camera Club. Images are intended to show nature in its purest form with no evidence of “the hand of man”, and only very basic post-processing is allowed.

We placed a very respectable 5th amongst 20 participating clubs, with a total score of 147 out of a possible 180 points. Each individual member’s score is out of 30 points.
