MARCH 2018 Assignment: Frozen
FEBRUARY 2018 Assignment: Abstract
JANUARY 2018 Assignment: Selective Colour
The Whitehorse Photography Club welcomed photographer Don Komarechka who led the workshop ‘Vision Beyond Seeing’!
Don provided an excellent workshop focusing (intentional use) on macro photography. The Friday and Saturday sessions were well attended, and Don provided many examples of his work in his discussion. Unfortunately, Sunday was limited to 20 participants (10 each in two sessions). While Don was doing his macro thing, local photographers Gary and Brianne Bremner provided a Lightroom post processing lesson. Kudos well deserved in both sessions.
On the following page are some results of participants’ refraction images (water droplets on a plant with a flower background) created under Don’s guidance:
MARCH 2017 Assignment: FESTIVALS
Thanks to Lily Gontard and Mark Kelly!
The Club was pleased to welcome author Lily Gontard and photographer Mark Kelly on February 7th, 2017, where they spoke about the awesome power of collaboration. What started out as Mark’s interest in abandoned road houses had developed into a sizeable collection of photographs, but what to do next?. The answer involved pitching the idea to author Lily, who agreed to write the copy; and then through the power of relationships, the end product developed into the book Beyond Mile 0: The Vanishing Alaska Highway Lodge Community.
The book release party is scheduled for April 7 at Baked Cafe & Bakery in Whitehorse, Yukon as part of the 1st annual First Light Image Festival.
