It is time for membership renewals. Download the 2024-25 Membership Application here. It is a fillable PDF which you can complete in Adobe Reader or other compatible PDF application and submit by email (or print and bring to a meeting). This year the membership fee is $50, which can be paid by eTransfer or by cash or cheque brought to a meeting.

New prospective members are welcome to audit one club meeting (excluding meetings with a featured guest presenter) at no charge to help you decide if you want to join. When you decide to join, use the same application form.

Kickoff to WPC 2024-25 Season

Please note that our congregation point for our photowalk has been changed to the end of War Eagle Way. See Sep 13th post for updated map.

All are welcome to join us on the photowalk described below. Come and enjoy the photographic experience with others who share our common interest. Though there will be no formal instruction, if you need help with your camera or your photographic technique you will undoubtedly find others who are willing and able to assist you.

Please note that this is an informal, unsupervised get-together and you will be wandering freely through the area. You are responsible for your own safety and security.

Gallery: Review of 2023-24 Season

A new season of the Whitehorse Photography Club is about to begin. The executive will be meeting on Sept 8th to flesh out plans, and activities may begin as early as this following week. Members from the 2023-24 season should receive an email notification. Otherwise, check this site early next week for news, or you can email info@whitehorsephotoclub.ca for information about our club or to get added to our mailing list.

Meanwhile, as a teaser for the upcoming season, here is a gallery of a small selection of members’ images from last season’s club outings and “assignments”. Topics, some of which were preceded by instructional sessions at our regular meetings, included: Summer of ’23; a club photo walk in downtown Whitehorse, focusing on graffiti, murals and old buildings; intentional camera movement (ICM), including an outing in the Hidden Valley school area; “winter is here”; member photos submitted for feedback from acclaimed local pro photographer Peter Mather; low light photography, including an evening group shoot on the grounds around Yukon University; “power of one”; diptych/triptych; “it’s a small world after all”; and bird photography, including an outing to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve coordinated with the bird club. Click on a thumbnail below and enjoy stepping through the images.

Meeting Schedule/Agendas Updated

Our planning for the remainder of our 2022/23 meeting season has been completed and the calendar on this page has been updated with the planned agendas. You can also download a Whitehorse Photography Club Schedule 2023_24 PDF document and print it or put it on your desktop, home screen or wherever for a quick and easy reference to the entire schedule.

Note that agenda items are always subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances or unanticipated opportunities. And there is a possibility that other, non-meeting activities might be added when we transition through spring and into summer.

We hope to see lots of you at the coming meetings.

Dec 13th: Photo Critique by Peter Mather

Posted in: . | 0

Renowned Yukon photographer, Peter Mather will be our guest presenter and he will provide constructive critiques of images submitted by our club members.

There is also an opportunity for up to 10 non-members to have Peter critique 2 of your photographs for a fee of $10. If you would like to participate in this, sign up on Eventbrite. Other non-members who would just like to see the photos and hear Peter’s analysis of them can also do so for an admission fee of $5 on the Eventbrite link.

There is no cost for our members to fully participate. You should have received an email with instructions for submitting the images you would like Peter to critique.

Anyone else who is interested in joining our club and enjoying this and all the other benefits and opportunities of membership can download and complete our fillable PDF Membership Application, email it to our treasurer and pay the $45 annual membership fee by eTransfer. But don’t wait until the last minute or it will be too late for you to submit your images.

This meeting will take place in room 1440 at Yukon University, which is larger than our usual meeting room. It will run from 7:00PM to 9:00PM on Dec 13th.
